Exit load

Redemptions and liquidity · a SIF concept, explained from SEBI’s rules.

In one line

A charge some SIF strategies deduct when units are redeemed within a set period after purchase. Each strategy sets its own in the offer document, and fund houses change them by notice.

The rule

There is no uniform lock-in or exit load across SIFs: any lock-in, maturity, exit load or other restriction depends on the strategy and must be disclosed in the ISID (FAQ A20). Distributors must explain fees, expenses and exit load before an investment (C10). Fund houses change exit loads by notice-cum-addendum, which our changes log records.

Example

Illustrative example. A strategy charging 1% on redemptions within 90 days would pay ₹99,000 on units worth ₹1,00,000 redeemed after 60 days, and the full ₹1,00,000 after 120 days. Each live strategy's actual load is on our liquidity table.

Where it applies
