SIF benchmark

Risk and disclosure · a SIF concept, explained from SEBI’s rules.

In one line

The broad market index a SIF strategy is compared against. SIFs use a single-tier benchmark chosen to match the strategy; a second tier is optional.

The rule

SIF strategies follow a single-tier benchmark structure, with an optional second tier as for mutual funds (circular para 9.1). Equity strategies use a broad market index such as the BSE Sensex, NSE Nifty or BSE 100; debt strategies an index representative of the portfolio; hybrid strategies a suitable broad benchmark (para 9.3). AMFI specifies the indices that may be used (FAQ B22); Active Asset Allocator strategies may follow the Multi Asset Allocation framework (B21).
